Nappies
Not something that I have a lot of first hand experience of but nevertheless... |

that does not mean that I can't pull together information about them - or lack of them even.
So - I was half watching breakfast news and half cleaning up the living room when a lady came on to explain the importance of using cloth nappies.
Actually, she went even further and suggested that it was the new thing to do if you wanted to be a cool, boho mother. (Appealing to our most altruistic sensibilities then...)
However, though I am not yet at a point in life where this is of particular relevance to me, I thought it sounded sensible and that I would investigate a little.
One really helpful site I found if you want to find out more about the pros and cons of using cloth nappies is called 'The Nappy Lady'.
The author seems pretty sensible (as well as entertainingly tongue in cheek) so why not have a look at what she has to say.
The Women's Environmental Network also have some very helpful facts and figures and they are running a Real Nappy Week in April.
If you do decide to go down this route companies such as Mumi and Blooming Babies listed in our directory will also be able to help you out.
But what was really exciting, well if you get excited by rogue bits of information about potty training which I apparently do, is that you don't have to use nappies at all!
I had never heard of it before but I guess it makes sense.
The lady writing this article points out that in the developing world mothers intuitively know when their children need the toilet and don't tend to use nappies.
Intriguing.
Anyhow - to get more details have a look at her full article here.
Or have a look at Diaperfree.org - they have four groups in the UK though none as yet London based.
Anyhow - I hope that it might be of some use to some of you reading and if it is, then congratulations!!
Wishing you the very best.
